Vuelta al Tachira - Stage 5

Stage Profile

The fight for the overall win starts with a time-trial. It's not all about climbing, but there is enough to classify this as a mountain TT. Expect the stage racers who can both climb and TT to finish at the top.

Staune-Mittet is a talented young stage racer. He'll be our first marker for the day as he takes the lead early.

Smith one of the better climbers lost a lot of time in the flatter section, but his climbing shown through in the end as takes over the provisional lead.

Rachid leads Simba Cement, he sets the new best time. He's 37'' faster than Smith,

Jele is, you need a better balance of skills for this stage. He's almost 4 minutes off the pace.

Rochas climbed well, but lost too much time on the flat. Only 10th place for him.

Yamamoto was the fastest at the first two splits, but then ran out of gas. Still finishing 7th which is solid.

Petelin is another pure climber who lost too much time on the non climbing section. Outside the top 10 for him.

Azman found a nice balance with his effort. He finishes 5th.

Beltran is similar to Azman and he finishes on a similar time as well.

Burke is the main leader for IncaLine and he finishes in a very solid 4th place.

Masnada is a well rounded rider, but looks like he lacked just a bit more juice. Still a 6th place finish.

Osorio has a decent effort as well and puts himself in the GC fray, 3rd provisionally at 22''.
