We kick off the month of February with a new edition of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. The Belgian race is not only the first cobbled race of the season but the very first PCT mandatory race in history!
A mixture of old, well established riders such as Per, Wisniowski, Spengler on the startlist meet the new up and commers such as Girmay and Rutsch.
And while there are quite a few riders who could get mixed up in the fight for a top 10 position, when it comes to the win we can realistically only add Gamper, Ovsyannikov and Jacobs to the previosly mentioned riders as contenders.
No previous winners at the start of the race, but two of three of the riders who finished on the podium last year return: Schreurs and Tediashvili.
| Rider | FL | ST | RS | CO | SP | AC | Spengler | 74 | 74 | 73 | 83 | 62 | 70 | Per | 79 | 74 | 75 | 82 | 74 | 74 | Girmay | 77 | 76 | 76 | 81 | 77 | 76 | Gamper | 77 | 77 | 77 | 81 | 64 | 71 | Ovsyannikov | 74 | 75 | 72 | 80 | 79 | 78 | Wisniowski | 76 | 69 | 70 | 79 | 69 | 70 | Rutsch | 77 | 76 | 75 | 79 | 69 | 68 | Jacobs | 76 | 77 | 76 | 79 | 67 | 68 | Stavrakakis | 76 | 74 | 70 | 78 | 64 | 68 | Uhlig | 72 | 72 | 74 | 78 | 65 | 75 | Owen | 73 | 73 | 71 | 78 | 64 | 71 | Moulingui | 74 | 71 | 71 | 78 | 65 | 68 | Kuroeda | 74 | 72 | 73 | 77 | 74 | 78 | Habimana | 74 | 74 | 73 | 77 | 66 | 71 | Schreurs | 72 | 75 | 75 | 77 | 72 | 71 | Pithie | 74 | 76 | 74 | 77 | 73 | 74 | Bohli | 74 | 79 | 75 | 77 | 74 | 68 | Lampawog | 76 | 76 | 75 | 77 | 64 | 68 | Rossi | 78 | 75 | 74 | 77 | 68 | 69 | Nareklishvili | 72 | 73 | 73 | 77 | 64 | 71 | Tediashvili | 75 | 76 | 78 | 77 | 71 | 71 | Kolev | 75 | 73 | 71 | 77 | 62 | 67 |

This is a win goal, so that is the hope here. I mostly hope that Bini goes about this the smart way instead of attacking from far out, and that Habimana and co are strong enough as the support. I'd be content with a Top 3, Top 5 is the absolute minimum.
Thanks for the preview alex, looking forward to the race!

Alongside KBK, this is the cobbles race we expect the least from. Too flat for Stewart to do something - I guess had we trained him to 77, he might have a good outside shot (given his nice Fl), but without this training we'd be happy if either him or Sommer get a Top 30.
Good luck to all!

Well here we go this Stav/Lapeira 1-2 punch can work really well (Stav gets leader role and Lap sprinter role) so they end up both riding near the front and can get some really cool team results be shocked if we didn't at least get two top 15 think this is a harder cobbled race so Stav should have a good shot at top 5 too
Bini huge fav as Cunego says only thing that will beat him is himself tactically |

First look at Lampawog as our cobbles leader and the newly formed team around him. Hoping for a Top 15 and depth points at the minimum.
Thanks for the preview alex!

Cobble season here we come! Not "Turtles we" but "MG we" as we are very happy to watch these from the sideline.
Lots of fun storylines here, but think that the success of Wisniowski is the one we're most interested in for our own chances this year.
My pick for the race is of course Girmay

Why did I go back to a cobbles focus this season of all season? Let's see how painful or not this all could be. Lets go Spengler!

This is the debut for our cobbles unit, hopefully they can set a good tone for their season and continue the teams good form. Between Rossi and Beka we should be good for a top 10 no matter how the race pans out whoch is in line with how our other leaders have started.

Although we have a Belgian leader for this opening PCT mandatory cobbled classic in Belgium, Mr Benoot has been given special dispensation to celebrate his mother's birthday on the night of the race. So we don't expect him to show up in top condition for this one.

Dont really know what to expect from Rutsch here. Other riders are better sprinters, better pure flat riders and better cobblers but I still hope for a good result!

Dreading the start of cobbles, with our reduced contingent of just Schreurs, who had a good amount of success last year and really carried us though this part of the season. Hopefully he can repeat that, or at least stay ahead of Kuroeda who's become persona non grata for us.
Thanks for the rpeview alex!

Missing out on 18 race days means we had to find some alternatives. Omloop was one of them.
With Owen present there's hope for some points at least. It would also be cool to hit the breakaway with Yechezkel even though I'm sure it will be someone else from the team if we decide to go for it.

Thanks alex for the preview!
As for the whole PCT cobbles season, we’ll be enjoying the show from a distance. Some depth points is all we hope for.
