Big jackpot in the TDU lottery for you, congrats! Surprising and amazing result there - expected MVD to shine, got both McCormick and Kuli instead. I'm definitely jealous (in particular because Paez couldn't match McCormick on Willunga) Pfft

@knockout: Now that you mention it, this is quite similar to what happened in Lithuania as Lopez took the back seat after Calmejane's exploits. Thanks Smile

@BW: Yes it is a very good start indeed. McCormick really outdid himself!

@Laurens: Thanks Grin

@Fabianski: I think it would've been reasonable if MVD and Boileau would've finished 1st and 9th, with McCormick and Kulikovskiy in the 20s. We got the positions reversed but GC points wise I wouldn't say this was an outlandish result. The only extra would have to be Haverdings getting the White Jersey. That was definitely unexpected! Also, Paez did beat MVD on Willunga and in the GC though Wink

Fabianski
I'll take Paez beating MVD any time, but he should beat McCormick first Pfft
Tbf, if Paez had simply been in the front group on the last day (which honestly he should as a Top 5 GC rider ^^), I'd be more than happy with the race, now it's a pretty sour taste.
Btw, I think McCormick is indeed a better suited rider for TDU than Boileau (who will be better in most other races), because of his sprint. He's definitely not a random winner, but not an expected one, either Wink Agree that MVD would have been a logical winner though (had one of MVD, Madouas or APP up there).

February Preview

A new month and more races on the schedule. February is here and it is mostly a month of cobbles for us. There is also the very TTT classic at the end of month!

Tactics
We have a good TTT team and it was a conscious decision to strengthen it this off-season. Too bad Lampawog and Scoson has to miss out but we should still have the fire-power to contest near the top of the standings in this race.
Expectation: Top 5
Watch Out For: The Team

Incidentally, the same eight riders will ride in the first three races of the month, with Hoole and Beckham missing Le Samyn to be a part of our TTT unit in Olympia. Hopefully the split works out for the last two races.

We don't have very high expectations for the month but do hope for consistent scoring from the cobbles and a good result from Olympia.

I think I would have personally swapped Scotson and Hoole in that double-header. The cobbled race is slightly above 200km where Hoole can make use of his better STA compared to Scotson, while Scotson would have added +2 to the TTT. Not sure it matters overall, but it would be something I would micromanage Pfft

Fair point but I thought Lampawog needed for more support than the TTT team. We'll see how that turns out.
