Anonymous opening stage for us. Tomorrow is where it counts. Would love to see Calmejane in the break for the KoM but im not too optimistic there. Other than that, Plapp and Oliveira have to make a good split ...

Did not have the margins on our side unfortunately, and we potentially lose out on a good points haul as result. A win on the opening stage could have kept him in yellow until the TT and put him in pole position for green. Without that, Dainese doesn't get a whole lot out of this race, but that was of course a known risk.
Rajovic deserves credit for an enormous lead-out for Philipsen. Dainese looked quick, but of the 3 trains we were the weakest, which is worrying. We'll give it a chance in Qatar as well before we conclude if the set-up is working or not, though.

Not a good start. Hope we don't see that again this season.

Congrats red for a great start to the season! It's cool to see Rajovic is already contributing after his stint in PCT.
Quispe in the break is the best we could hope for in the first stage so it's nice to see him already more active than most of last season.
And finally thanks to Imladrik for starting of the PT season!

Decent showing from Storer to make the Top 5 but I expect he'll drop well out of the scoring GC positions after the TT.
Disappointing that Haig and none of the others were able to keep with the main group so no one else in GC contention. Fingers crossed we get a big over performance for stage points though!

Too bad Remco ran out of energy there at the end. Still, these gaps are going to make for a very interesting final stage. The gap is not big enough to hope Remco can finish on the podium, but I think a top 5 is doable now.

Jorgenson making an impact in a PT race is awesome to see for the first time in his career. Don't think the time gaps are big enough to the better TTers to challenge for the win but a Top 5 could be possible.

Had hoped we would be part of the early breakaway attempts, but no luck
Very interesting setup for the TT. quadsas and beagle should be the most satisfied managers regarding the GC setup, I'd say, as it felt far from given Kmieliauskas and Würtz should be among the riders in such a select group. |

Stage 1:
Solid start, no one for the stage, sending Braet to the breakaway was nice. My GC guys might have been a bit far behind on the peloton, but fair enough, no top GC favourites.
Stage 2:
Huui. Not sure my team tactics paid out. Yes there were gaps but the team apparently let my hill support team go wild making it a tough race, which is fine, though it should only happen without the GC riders being dropped next time. Anyway, while not ideal to lose that much time, couple better TT riders are behind and some of the riders ahead might be passed tomorrow.
Hard to rate my GC result probability right now but ideally both might move towards the top20 I hope. And while the team tactics might not have been ideal, it's nevertheless good to see Bax and Hermans being capable to ride it hard as they ideally do so again in races with Vansevenant.
Thanks for the first two reports. |

Plapp lost way too much time but Oliveira had a fantastic ride today and is set for a strong GC result. 1 of 2 making it through the stage is solid enough, ill take it!

No seperation to Würtz is a bit scary but hopefully we dust his ass tomorrow!

So I didn't bring a sprinter here, and my team still finds someone else to ride for.
Was very weird to see my team on the front for the last stretch and then see that Skjelmose wasn't with them in the final, because to me he was the clear leader. Especially weird to see them riding for Niklas Eg, who is almost every aspect a worse version of Skjelmose as a standard stage racer.
Obviously can't complain though as I think the ultimate result was much better than I expected with both Eg and Sulvaran in that first chase group and Krigbaum a couple of minutes back. Really have no idea how they ended up having such good days to end up around really strong pure puncheurs with their mid-70's hill stats, but they really rode the best race they could have with Skjelmose having an off day. My hope for this race was for Skjelmose to sneak into the top 20-25, and both Sulvaran and Eg have a chance to do that now. Obviously the very top time trialists are still near the front, but with the combination of pure puncheurs in front and secondary time trialists well behind, I think our depth scoring looks pretty optimistic.
Very interesting stage overall with multiple breaks and attacks flying throughout. Though some leaders clearly got left behind int he shakeup. I guess pretty expected though in such a short race with so many riders potentially in contention.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

It really is a Strange and somewhat random race this, that I can’t really seem to get my head around. We just brought a bunch of TT riders to avoid being frustrated like last season. Seems likely that we will score a few depth points, and thus perform marginally better than last season. That was the goal, so fingers crossed for a solid TT performance from Kiriakidis, Ioannidis and Cavagna to move up a bit overall. Not sure it’s doable as there’s even better TT guys not far behind.
