New season, new target races. But before we get into those, we have one overarching team goal — and it’s a lofty one: Promotion.
Is it realistic? Maybe. At least one person thinks so. We’re going to dream big, but there’s no shame in spending another season in the PCT if promotion doesn’t come this year. We are still in the building phase.
As for the races, there’s plenty of variety with goals spread across multiple terrains. We’re aiming for three wins, with team captain Matteo Jorgenson targeting the Tour of Norway and Strade Bianche, while Inigo Elosegui sets his sights on the Pro Hallstatt Classic.
Jorgenson was the best young rider at the Tour of Norway in 2023, finishing fourth overall and picking up a stage win in the process. He hasn’t returned since, but we’re hoping he can make his comeback count. On the white gravel of Strade Bianche, the American finished second behind MVDP last season, giving us reason to believe he can go one step better this time after his training this offseason.
Elosegui will take the reins at the Pro Hallstatt Classic after playing a key role in Jorgenson’s second-place finish last season, while also securing 13th himself. This year, he gets the opportunity to lead the team and chase the win.
Then there’s the Chrono d’Arenberg. Some might consider it an unusual target, but Ethan Vernon delivered a Top 5 finish here last season. It proved to us he can handle the cobbles and still produce a strong time trial. We’re backing him to suffer through the rough stuff once again and hopefully get the job done.
Unsure if no Post Danmark Rundt is a C1 prio issue or an active choice, would think it was a slam dunk as you could very easily split Jussaume and Vernon for maximum scoring effiency.

Mostly just comes from my tendency to avoid race clashes whenever I can. You’re probably right that there are some points being left on the table by doing it that way, but I’m content with the tradeoff. I like being able to send strong lineups to races when possible, even if it’s not always the most efficient approach. Definitely more of a preference on my end than me thinking it’s the optimal strategy.
Newcomer Sondre Holst Enger wins season-opening race in Australia.
Dream Debut Down Under
The 2026 season is underway and 33-year-old Sondre Holst Enger turned back the clock in a memorable way to secure a win in his first race with Zwift - Newton Foundation at the season-opening Down Under Classic. The short one-day classic was claimed with a perfectly timed sprint. A perfect way to start a new season!
Enger hadn't had the best results at the Down Under Classic in his career, so we were just realistically hoping for a Top 5 result.

The victory marks the 18th of Enger's 14-year career and his sixth straight season recording at least one victory. Enger has won four stages at the Vuelta a Espana, with three of them coming in a memorable 2017 campaign with Aker - MOT. He also won a 2023 Giro d'Italia stage with Cedevita.
It's his first-ever classic/one-day race win. And the first classic/one-day race win for Zwift - Newton Foundation since Aug. 25, 2023, when Pascal Ackermann won GP Wallonie. Here is Enger's full victories palmares:

Zwift - Newton Foundation is Enger's eighth team, and he's made plenty of friends across the MG along the way. Many were happy to congratulate the old veteran at the finish line after his Down Under Classic performance. Plenty are hoping this resurgence doesn't last the whole season, but they're still proud of their old friend.
While Enger has never been the world's best sprinter, he still has a habit of producing when it counts. Quite the career he's had, and so far, this season is shaping up to be his best yet!
