Coquard is the big favorite but a few others will surely fancy their chances of an upset.
Fun little breakaway today, if only because we get to see Lecuisinier in that very unfamiliar role. Morin and Daniel join him, but they don’t stand a chance. Sony, Bolt – Eesti, ELCO – ABEA and Peugeot - Bancolombia join Spark in the chase.
With 15 km to go, Senechal attempts to win with an attack. Cosnefroy and Dujardin try to follow him, but this won’t be a successful move either.
Onto the finishing straight, Vincent leads out Thomas at the head of the race, with Cavagna bringing Zingle to the front right behind him. Coquard has some ground to make up on the right hand side.
Under the flamme rouge, Coquard has found Zingle’s wheel, but that will have cost him some energy. Thomas, Russo, Hofstetter and Barbier are next.
Coquard tries his best to overcome his poor positioning and it’s a close call. But ELCO – ABEA’s great leadout makes the difference as Zingle becomes the new French Champion! Congratulations!

Time Trial
A very open race here today, with Cosnefroy perhaps as the main favorite.
Cavagna may have hoped for some chances on a great day today, but the fact that Thomas almost catches him at the line tells you everything you need to know about that. The Peugeot rider sets the commanding best time at 1h11’23.
Former champ Paillot does well, but falls 17 seconds short.
But that’s still better than Cosnefroy, who doesn’t seem to have the best day. 1’15 off, he’s not even close.
Neither is defending champ Viennet. 42 seconds slower than Thomas, he’s provisional third.
Brunel was close on both checkpoints and then rides the best final sector of all riders. But he falls agonizingly short, by less than a second!
Lecuisinier is the favorite in most races he enters, and he had hoped for the title here today, but others just had stronger legs. He finishes 5th, just behind Viennet.
Which means that the French Time Trial champion is Thomas!
