This promises to be a very interesting race. Four teams have two or three riders among the main contenders, and no single rider stands out as the top favorite.
On the downhill towards the final climb, three riders from UBS and two from Jura GIANTS have broken away and they enter the ascent with some 45 seconds on the peloton. This puts the pressure on Indosat and Sauber, and indeed we see Badilatti leading the chase.
He is successful and his leader Hirschi sets the next attack with 8 kilometers to go. Only Schmid can follow, and the chasing group is quickly down to just Frankiny, Aebi, Schir and Stüssi. Darbellay had been caught completely out of position and is further down the road.
Frankiny almost leads the chasers (minus Aebi) back to the front, but Hirschi has another attack in him.
4 kilometers to go and Frankiny is done for the day. Stüssi takes over and goes after Hirschi. Schmid is with him, Schir struggles.
Into the final 3 kilometers, Schmid seems to be out of the running. Stüssi briefly caught up with Hirschi, who immediately attacks again.
And that one proved to be decisive - Hirschi is the new Swiss Champion! Darbellay actually had a strong second half of the climb and moves past everyone else into second place, but the Sauber rider was just too strong today.

Bissegger is the clear favorite today.
And it quickly becomes clear that the only excitement today will be from the battle for the other two podium spots. Blum has the edge by less than a second at the final checkpoint …
… but Kung has the stronger legs in the long run and secures second place.
No one is even close to Bissegger today though. He wins this race by over a minute.
