No clear favorite today - Yates might be the best pure puncheur, McCormick has the best sprint, but a bunch of riders are also in the mix.
No break of the day, so Kennett attacks just before the final ramp from a group of 62 riders.
Kennett has a decent gap inside the final kilometer, but he’s struggling. Smith, Duyvesteyn and Mudgway lead the peloton.
Smith passes Kennett with 700 meters to go. Marryatt and Gaze are closest.
Smith still leads with 400 meters to go but Pithie comes with great speed on the right.
And the youngster wins it! Incredible achievement in just his second year as a pro. Brown beats Smith to second place as many other main contenders fall short.

Time Trial
Should be a very tight race today with three fairly evenly matched contenders.
Marryatt is the first of the big three to be out on the road and as expected, he crushes everyone who had ridden before him. Looking at the time checks, it still becomes clear quickly that this won’t be as close a race as we might’ve thought.
And that’s because Atkins is on a mission today. This may be his last go as a title contender and he makes the most of it, distancing Marryatt by almost a minute at the finish line.
Currie is even further away and only ends up third.
