pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/trg.png Johannessen is once again leading the list of favorites for the stage, but this time the climbers don't seem to be favored as much as yesterday. But given yesterday's list of favorites and the outcome of the stage, I don't think we should look too much into it. The finishing climb looks much softer though, except for the brutal last 500m, so it's unlikely it will shake up the GC the way yesterday's stage did.

The breakaway wasn't quite formed by the time we reached the first categorized climb of the day, but the first two riders in the KoM competition were both at the front. Four more riders made it across in the following kilometers to make the breakaway of the day. Two riders in the breakaway for Ethiopian Airlines and Peugeot.

They wouldn't stay together for too long though as the group broke apart on the first second category climb of the day. Perfect score so for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/pbc.png Luchshenko who once again takes maximum points. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eth.png Nunes following him quite closely for second.

We had a regroup between the two duos on the next climb, but once the sprint for the KoM points started, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/gla.png Dunne was dropped (he would still get fourth though). 3/3 for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/pbc.png Luchshenko. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/ple.png Zana did get a couple of points this time, but the it doesn't look like there will be a change of jersey wearer

At the front, it was once again pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/pbc.png Luchshenko who was the strongest and he will tie pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/ple.png Zana for third in the KoM rankings. Yes, I said third, because, quite quietly pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/t3a.png Le Court managed to grab enough points to jump up to second place in the provisional KoM rankings

It was good enough to give the Aussie rider a slight advantage of having the best position as we reach the brutal last 500 meters of the race. A proper wall to finish things off in the Basque Country!

Despite the pack being quite compact for the most part at the end there, plenty of gaps are given between different groups. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/zal.png Kmieliauskas is 13th in the stage, 26 seconds behind the winner, but it's enough to keep his place on the podium and the U25 jersey as well! A very good race for the future Lithuanian superstar

No changes at the very top of the Gc rankings then. Actually, the first 7 places stay intact, with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/trg.png Johannessen being the only new name in the top 10. Good news and bad news for Tryg - Eni as it's mostly at the expense of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/trg.png Sleen, who lost over a minute today and his place in the top 10. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tzk.png Budyak and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/taf.png Hoelgaard exchanging palces between themselves as a result of the gaps given at the finish.

Lots of changes beyond the top 10 though!
