The three teams that finished on the podium in Olympia TTT this season are also rated as the main favorites for today's opening stage.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/gla.png Glanbia were up next. And while they were not quite far behind at the intermediate checkpoint (just 6 seconds), they lost an additional six seconds in the next kilometers to be 12 seconds behind the leaders at the finish line.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eko.png Ekoi - Le Creuset off to a rather slow start today. 12 seconds behind at the intermediate checkpoint and 22 at the finish line. Dropping their best puncheurs, Aurelien Paret-Peintre and Boileau, was not a very good move either

They kept their pace well in the second part of the stage as well and ended up with a total loss of just 6 seconds

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/hvc.png Hunter Valley with an almost identical team to their Olympia one, but it won't be enough to win today! 3 seconds off the pace at the intermediate point and 6 seconds behind at the finish, good enough for provisional third place. The one rider that was not in Olympia, Storer is both their best puncheur and weakest time - trialists, so him dropping just an additional 2 seconds to the first riders (which included Conci) in the team could be seen as a victory

They were second in the TTT one day even, but today they miss out even on the provisional podium. 9 seconds off the pace. Venantas Lasinis losing an additional 2 seconds not ideal either

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eus.png Euskadi - Murias the last team to start in their home race. A pretty impressive time at the intermediate checkpoint, just 4 seconds off the pace. And they only lose an additional 4 seconds in the last part to grab fourth place for the day! Just like in Olympia they were left with only four riders quite early, but this time they definitely should have waited for their fifth as Turgis ended up losing over 5 minutes today. He might not have been a strong enough of a climber to fight for the GC here, but his GC race is over before it even started.

The early signs were there with their podium in Olympia, but seeing them win today is still a bit of a surprise, especially with the teams that beat them there keeping most of their riders for this one as well. But, perhaps an even bigger surprise is pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/kmm.png Kraftwerk in second place!
