Stage 6 Report

Stage 6 takes the riders 184k to Murcia. Officially rated hilly, the last climb peaks about 19 from the end so it wouldn’t be surprising if the peloton let the break have it again. Two cat 3s and two sprints today. Because of the flat finish the stage awards 50 points to the winner.

Despite the benign finish the organizers think the GC guys will fight it out.

Indeed, Grieg pull back Thompson and almost Fedeli before pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/grm.png Kamp launches. That triggers a new break including the Grieg man, his teammate, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/grm.png Kusuma and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/yor.png Berwick, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/jur.png Aebi, and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/yor.png Buratti. Berwick is 6th in the KOM jersey standings but just 4 points down, if he takes the lead, he could continue the pattern of the jersey changing every day. (The leader’s jersey has also changed every day and the white jersey every day except 1). Fedeli wasn’t strong enough to stay with these 5 and is 1’12 down.

The break rides through the sprint without contesting it. Their lead is just 3’41 with 90k to go. Peloton much more motivated today – UBS, Fastned, Rabobank, Carlsberg and Gazelle all working.

40k now. The break also ignored the second sprint. They are on the first Cat 3, it is 4.7k at 7%. They will do the climb twice. Buratti was dropped as soon as the road went uphill. Peloton at 1’49.

Kusuma is dropped soon after. The two helpers gone.

The peloton splits over the top as the puncheur’s teams push it, 32 riders in the front group. Red Jersey wearer pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/sfi.png Broxham made it but looks bad. Berwick onto the 2nd ascent. Peloton at 50 seconds with Kamp caught and Aebi almost caught. Peloton is back to 148 riders mostly thanks to work from Indosat. Berwick is caught 3.5k from the top and with 2.5k to go it is UBS leading again. Latour, Aular, Godoy and Carthy all better placed now.
