Queen stage of the race. Three first category climbs and one second category climb on the menu. We go over Col de la Croix twice, though the first time we will only two the second part of the climb, while the second time which will serve as the finale of the stage, we will have 19 kilometers of climbing at an average of 7.4%. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Almeida is the big favorite of the day and we should see some fireworks from him as he is quite far down in the GC. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/cko.png Eastman who follows him on the favorites' list is even further down. On the other side, we have guys like pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/znf.png Jorgenson, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/znf.png Elosegui, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eve.png Rodrigues, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/min.png Reis and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eko.png Ranaweera who will look to defend their high positions in the GC after the first three stages.

Zalgiris put 3 riders in the breakaway in the second stage and in the end it paid off. Today they put 4 into a 17 men breakaway, though neither of them really seems suited for a stage like this:
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/zal.png Bilyi
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/zal.png Dalby
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/zal.png Gajdulewicz
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/zal.png Belohvosciks
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eko.png Pinot
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/sct.png Carpenter
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/gct.png Lunke
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/cko.png Xandri

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dna.png Fratczak

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tlt.png Tulett
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/1.jpg

The pack doesn't give the breakaway a lot of breathing room and the best climbers in it no longer seem interested to put in the effort for the day. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/gct.png Lunke and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/cko.png Xandri are among those who are dropped on the early slopes of the first climb of the day
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/2.jpg

The group really breaks apart over the next kilometers and the race for the KoM points sees only 5 riders left at the front (3 of them from Zalgiris!): pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/zal.png Bilyi, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/zal.png Gajdulewicz, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/zal.png Belohvosciks, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Thornley and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/see.png Rachid. The Spark rider is the one who takes the maximum points at the summit
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/3.jpg

The 5 will continue the move into the downhill and not allow any of the other escapees to make it back, with many of them already reeled in back in the pack. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/zal.png Belohvosciks put in his share of work on the easier slopes, but once the harder slopes were reached he was gone
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/4.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Thornley was next. He won the first summit of the day, but it's unlikely he will be in the KoM jersey by the end of the day
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/5.jpg

Zalgiris were doing the work for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/zal.png Bilyi and the Ukrainian is soon alone in the lead.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/6.jpg

First at the top of the Col de la Croix and mission KoM jersey is on
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/7.jpg

We have a regroup after the intermediate sprint as after pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/see.png Rachid made it back on the downhill, it was then pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/zal.png Gajdulewicz' turn to make his way back to the front of the race
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/8.jpg

Speaking of intermediate sprints lets see how they went:
1st
2nd
3rd
Sprint #1pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dna.png Fratczakpcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/sct.png Carpenterpcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Duyvesteyn
Sprint #2pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/see.png Rachidpcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/zal.png Bilyipcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/zal.png Gajdulewicz

But it didn't take a lot of climbing for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/zal.png Bilyi to drop the other two once again. He will be in the KoM jersey at the end of the day, no matter what happens on the final climb
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/9.jpg

By the time the summit of the second first category climb of the day was reched, the Ukrainian was the only rider left from the initial breakaway. But he had what looked like quite a comfortable advantage of over 3 minutes. In the pack, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png MOL and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/znf.png Zwift were setting up the pace
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/10.jpg

While he did not lose much time on the downhill, the valley and the early slopes of the Col de la Croix were fatal for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/zal.png Bilyi. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/min.png Minions have now also joined in helping with the pace
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/11.jpg

Once all the other domestiques were done with their work, it was pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/min.png Rubio who put in a great shift, setting a really high pace and starting to thin out the pack.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/12.jpg

While many were dropped, some were still able to hang on despite being almost dead. The biggest name to lose contact at this point was pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spr.png Misbah. Not a great sign for the Sauber leader to be dropped this early
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/13.jpg

When pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/min.png Rubio's job was done, it was his leader's time to shine. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/min.png Reis was the first favorite to make a move today. Members of the other teams who paced on the final climb were the first to follow him: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Almeida and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/znf.png Jorgenson
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/14.jpg

Six more riders join the trio as a gap is made to the other strong climbers: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mck.png Yates, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/cko.png Eastman, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/pbc.png Galta, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eve.png Rodrigues, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dvt.png Faglum Karlsson and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eko.png Ranaweera
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/15.jpg

They initially get a good gap, but eventually the riders behind started gaining back some time, with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spz.png Barguil almost bringing the chasers back. It's at this point we have a new acceleration. This time made by pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eve.png Rodrigues
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/16.jpg

While this move keeps the chasers behind, it doesn't change much in the front group as everyone is able to follow the move
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/17.jpg

When pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eve.png Rodrigues sat back in his saddle, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Almeida took over the move and the prolonged high speed at the front finally saw its first victims, the two Nordic riders: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/pbc.png Galta and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dvt.png Faglum Karlsson
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/18.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Almeida didn't look like stopping too soon and two other riders were dropped: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eko.png Ranaweera and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/cko.png Eastman
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/19.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Almeida wasn't able to shake off anyone else's off his wheel though. But they all looked done by the time the MOL rider sat back. We entered the final kilometer with 5 riders at the front: two English speakers and three Portuguese
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/20.jpg

After his acceleration, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Almeida took some time to recover and he seems to be freshest rider in the group as he takes back the lead with 500 meters to go
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/21.jpg

No one can match his speed at the end there and it's a victory for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Almeida. He will even take some seconds on the road, but he surely would have wanted more given his starting GC position
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/22.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/znf.png Jorgenson and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eve.png Rodrigues lead the rest of the group over the finish line, with a gap of 9 seconds the winner. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/znf.png Jorgenson extends his lead in the GC, while the Everesting rider moves one place up. Today's winner will move into the last podium spot before the decisive mountain time - trial
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/23.jpg

Some of the guys who did their own pace after pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/min.png Reis' opening attack made a real come back in the second half of the climb and were even able to overtake some of the riders who were part of the main favorites group. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dna.png Cras finished 6th today, 33 seconds behind the winner
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/24.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eko.png Ranaweera and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/cko.png Eastman ended up losing almost one minute in the end, with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spz.png Barguil joining them right at the finish line
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Romandie/s4/25.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dvt.png Faglum Karlsson and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/pbc.png Galta almost ended up being caught by the big chasing group behind. In the end, it was only pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/sct.png Carapaz and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tlt.png Mavrikakis who made the catch, with the Ecuadorian closing the top 10 for today, and the Peugeot rider dropping a few extra seconds right at the finish line
