One more stage for the sprinters, one more stage for the time-trialists to stay out of trouble and some KOM points on offer today as well.
The breakaway got established by the time we reached the early intermediate sprint. These are the riders:
Foldager Braet Andersen Pollefliet
None of these riders can threaten the KOM leader, but there are enough points on the course today that placements from 2nd and down are all in play. Foldager starts with 6 points.
Foldager is the best climber in this group. With another 5 points he's now up to 3rd overall. The peloton led by Vesuvio is currently 8 minutes behind.
More points for Foldager who looks in good shape to get that 2nd place in the KOM classification.
Foldager solos the two category 4 KOMs that come one after the other. There is more left to see if Andersen can move himself into 3rd.
90 km to go. ELCO have started helping Vesuvio with the pacemaking. The gap is down to 6 minutes.
Final KOM sprint of the race. Andersen scores the 2 more points he needed. Meanwhile the peloton are closing in fast, the gap is only 3 minutes now.
The last part of the race is a circuit in Hannover before heading towards the finish line. The more technical nature of the circuit gave the breakaway a bit more time at the front, but with 13 km left the catch is now made.
There should be a clear straight to the finish now. Assa Abloy, ELCO and JEWA are the only teams with sprint trains right now.
Things start to get a bit more messy especially on the left side of the road where Bolt have also emerged with a train for Zariff and Kemboi has one teammate ahead of him on the far right.
Less than 2 km to go. Zingle finds the same to bring his leader forward. Team Hunter are trying to the same for Jakobsen and cycleYorkhire for Kemboi. For the rest it looks more like every man for themselves.
Dainese finds Coutinho's wheel and the two pull ahead under the flamme rouge. Losch is also leading out Grosu now.
Jakobsen is brought to the front by Hesters, as is Samolenkov by Tikhonin. Coutinho is done so Dainese has to start his sprint with Kemboi lurking behind them.
And it's the latter's timing that proves to be superior among the rest as Kemboi claims a convincing stage victory. Samolenkov is 2nd after a decent leadout while Dainese holds on to 3rd.
The last two stages did nothing to change the overall standings. Tom Wirtgen confirmed his status as the race favourite. The slight over performer is Marlen Zmorka who prevented the Vesuvio 1-2 as Würtz finished the race in 3rd overall.
The battle of the sprinters for the Points classification was arguably the most exciting one. In the end it goes to Artem Samolenkov as he was the most consistent across the 4 stages.
Stan Dewulf went for the tried and tested method of racking up points in the opening two stages to win the overall King of the Mountains.
Despite a slightly underwhelming performance Rokas Kmieliauskas was never in doubt to be the best young rider in the race.
