Another day for the sprinters and another day for the KOM points. All of the climbing is clustered into the first half of the stage then it's pan flat all the way to the finish.
KOM leader Dewulf is motivated to cement this classification for him today. He has Vangheluwe with him for company.
Dewulf starts his campaign today with an intermediate sprint which brings him within 2'' of the overall race lead. No team behind is active as yesterday and the sprinters are happy with just two riders in front. We later get word that Farantakis claimed the last two points on offer.
5 more points to add to Dewulf's KOM total.
More sprint points and bonus seconds for the Belgian. The peloton is 5 minutes behind at this point. Farantakis again takes the final 2 points in the peloton.
Dewulf adds to his perfect KOM record. It may be possible he mathematically secures the KOM today.
You know the deal by now. More points! One more KOM to go, can he go for a perfect score?
Yes, he can! 43/43 KOM points in the race, job done. These two guys can largely relax now. The peloton has closed the gap to 3 minutes.
The two escapees are caught just before the final intermediate sprint which is won by Kemboi ahead of Samolenkov and Grosu.
Less than 20 km to go, the leadout trains are starting to form.
10 km left now. Similar to yesterday we have a 90 degree right turn close to the finish that the teams leading the sprinters have to navigate.
Wide roads here in Wolfsburg so the turn with 3 km is no issue, but the road does get a bit tighter for the finish.
Assa Abloy, ELCO and Hunter Valley have the best trains going at the moment. JEWA and Puma are fighting for position near the barriers, but Kanter is slightly disconnected from his lead out men.
Coutinho forces the issue and opens the lead out early. Farantakis has moved onto Dainese's wheel for the moment, next to him is Gross.
The right hand side is lead by Hesters with his leader on the wheel followed by Kamberaj and Lutsyshyn.
Gross is sprinting for himself today. Grosu has mostly missed his lead out man in Losch again. Jakobsen's setup has probably looked the best today as he gets ready to open his sprint.
Even though it didn't look good Grosu found a good position and he had the speed to burst through for the victory! Samolenkov mostly followed behind to get to 2nd place. The final podium spot goes to Jakobsen. He and his team did nothing wrong today, just didn't have the legs to match the top speed.
Grosu's stage win brings him up to 3rd in GC and he takes over the points lead. Farantakis still leads the race on countback ahead of Dewulf. U25 jersey stays with Van Sintmaartensdijk.
