I think the length meant that the TT stat also comes into play.
Schomber was 10th in the sub 5k prologue in Tour of California, so it could have been way worse for Chavanne - not sure if that's any help, though

We were in a decent position with 3k to go, but the leadout from Bittner didn't work out.
We're still chasing that stage win!

Nice effort by our team especially Van bekkum today, going hard for the KoM Shirt. Also Mayrhofer and Glivar with a strong finish in the top group. Great stage for us i would say.

Not a very selective stage.
Meurisse in 4th is decent, but a stage win is all that matters for us here in Benelux...

Would have been nice to have Wisniowski in the first group, but with some cobblers losing even more time, it's not the worst of results. Looking forward to get the cobbles going!

Yeah, appears to be the case. 3rd is by no means a catastrophe in a HC race so we'll take it. Bit disappointed by Perera in the sprint but he'll have another chance later on. Stage 3 about as uneventful for us as expected.

Great win from Robov, but man the rest of the team is 6+ minutes back, unless Tedia can do some craziness, there will be no points from GC

Still in the GC lead. Unlikely Howson will keep it much longer but really happy he was able to hang on to such a selective group!
Congrats to the winner and thanks for another great report!

Nice attentive ride by Hecht, we were always near the front. The cobbles are his weakness though. Also a pity Eekhoff lost so much time, hopefully Godon can hold on in the cobbles to keep the depth.
Congrats to Quad, nice attack from Robov, and thanks for the reports.

Not sure the gaps to the better cobblers will be enough for van der Poel and Pithie, but still a good result. Will be tricky to displace Kung but if the cobbled stages aren't too selective they're well placed. |

Another stage navigated good to see Godon staying up with Hecht, this is his chance to shine. Nice of EKOI to keep the cobblers in range - I guess they have Kung to ride for.
But now we have the jersey and the team isn't that deep and last year Hecht lost contact on the final climb and lost a minute - that could knock him out of the top 10 this year, let alone out of the race lead.
Congrats to Sykkel on the win.

Doull ensuring we get some points. Let's try that again please?
Thanks for the report!

Meurisse looking good.
Would have preferred one more in the breakaway to chase the stage win, however.

Yes, Manakov! What a great win for him. Good tactics by us to have 4 guys in the early breakaway alongside our second best cobbler, and nice to see it rewarded in the end. Manakov has had a great cobbles season, and feels deserved that he rounds it off with a win. For our GC hopes, the stage was not as selective as we had hoped for and a top result with Wisniowski is looking difficult.

One cobbled stage survived, though would have liked to have distanced Hecht and Bonello. Ideally need another less selective stage with the right combination of riders dropped to get both Pithie and van der Poel up the GC, which seems unlikely. |

Thanks for the report, was a fun stage to follow.
Losing the GC lead hurts, particularly to Bonello, probably the one clearly weaker rider near the front. Especially when I was just feeling good that Hecht would make it, only to Bonnello get it on the bonus seconds. Perhaps Hecht was too strong, closing down an attack that could have taken bonus seconds.
On the other hand two in the top 10 is an outstanding result we definitely would have taken pre-race and is the kind of overperformance we have been missing. Just need to hold it together tomorrow.
