Vandevelde as a potential top 10 follows shortly afterwards. He sets a new best time in 7’50.
Stavrakakis seems to have a good day, he is 9’’ faster!
Schomber is one of today’s favourites and only here for this stage. His time is 7’33.
Norsgaard is provisional 3rd with an 8’’ deficit.
Sam is even better. He slots in 2nd, 6’’ down.
Siddikov is another 2’’ faster.
Matsuda should be top 5 contender. And maybe even more? In any case he sets a new best time in 7’29.
Oliveira has similar qualities, but he loses 12’’ today and is only 7th even now.
Milan is another specialist. But he does even worse and is only 12th at the moment, 15’’ slower than the leader.
Leung is the best prologue rider in this field, at least on paper. He proves this with a new best time of 7’27.
Groselj will also look for a good stage result, especially after all the pains his manager had to live through this season so far. That probably won’t change with his 5th place for now.
Howson could already be the last contender for the stage win. His time is 12’’ behind the leader though which is only good enough for provisional 9th.
Aguilar Mendez does much better than his predecessors and only loses 5’’ which puts him in provisional 4th.
Congratulations to Leung who confirms why he was the pre-stage favourite.
Aguilar Mendez is the best young rider.
And after the stage 1-2 it’s no surprise that King Power also takes the teams lead.
