The Race

The organizers favour the sprinters, but with some big climbs on the way there are also some good puncheurs at the start to make the race hard.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C2/Frankfurt/PCM0001.jpg

We have a break of six today. But the peloton won’t be sweating of fear as none of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/kno.png Pagtalunan, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/gla.png Peden, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dna.png Hayashibara, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/see.png Tuyizere, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eth.png Kajamini and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dna.png Theiler is in any way an impressive climber.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C2/Frankfurt/PCM0002.jpg

That explains why they soon have a gap of 8 minutes.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C2/Frankfurt/PCM0003.jpg

After 90 km of undulating roads and at the foot of the biggest climb of the day the gap is down to 6 minutes.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C2/Frankfurt/PCM0004.jpg

After this climb and the following descent the gap is down another 2 minutes. There are 3 and a half climbs to do before the final 40 flat km.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C2/Frankfurt/PCM0005.jpg

Before the last climb the break is reduced to five riders after pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dna.png Theiler had to pay for his work. There has also been a first split in the peloton. We’ll have a closer look when it’s clear if the split persists.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C2/Frankfurt/PCM0006.jpg

It does not, but pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/lot.png Berhe, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/t3a.png Cole and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/lot.png Veyhe attacked from the peloton and are now catching the former breakaway riders who are now all on their own after the break fell apart.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C2/Frankfurt/PCM0007.jpg

They caught them all in the end, but finally the peloton brought all attackers back with 28 km to go. No sprinters have been dropped in the climbs, so it seems like we’re getting a bunch sprint here. Or will a late attacker snatch the win from the fast men?

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C2/Frankfurt/PCM0008.jpg

We had an unusual picture with Zappes Kölsch being the only one team controlling the peloton. And with 7 km to go there’s a big attacking group!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C2/Frankfurt/PCM0009.jpg

12 riders are out in front and with only 3 km to go they have a gap of 35’’ – and more importantly some helpers in between to keep the peloton behind! The 12 are pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mck.png Hecht, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mck.png Eekhoff, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/see.png Montenegro, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/ple.png Wackermann, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/ofg.png Arashiro, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dna.png Mayrhofer, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eus.png Turgis, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/esk.png Gougeard, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/taf.png Belevics, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/ple.png Gabburo, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eus.png Van Hautegem and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/lot.png Chatarunga.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C2/Frankfurt/PCM0010.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mck.png Hecht leads the attackers into the last km. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/ofg.png Arashiro, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dna.png Mayrhofer, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eus.png Turgis, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mck.png Eekhoff and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/ple.png Gabburo are behind him and they are all decent enough sprinters to contest the win today.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C2/Frankfurt/PCM0011.jpg

It’s roughly the same picture with 600 m to go although pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mck.png Eekhoff has lost some positions. But now pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dna.png Mayrhofer is launching the sprint and given his speed it will be hard for anyone else to get past him once he’s in the lead!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C2/Frankfurt/PCM0012.jpg

The German is in the lead with 200 m to go. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eus.png Turgis is by his side.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C2/Frankfurt/PCM0013.jpg

And pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dna.png Mayrhofer takes the win! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eus.png Turgis and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/ple.png Gabburo take the remaining podium spots.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C2/Frankfurt/PCM0014.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/ofg.png Arashiro, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/see.png Montenegro, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/lot.png Chatarunga, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mck.png Hecht, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/ple.png Wackermann, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/esk.png Gougeard and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/taf.png Belevics complete the top 10.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C2/Frankfurt/PCM0015.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eus.png Van Hautegem and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mck.png Eekhoff also made it to the finish before the peloton. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/kmm.png Bol wins the sprint for 13th against pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/esk.png Darbinyan and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/see.png Tivani.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C2/Frankfurt/PCM0016.jpg

Congratulations to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dna.png Mayrhofer who not only takes a home win, but also produces a season highlight for his team!
