Chrono des Herbiers (PT) - Preview
Welcome to France for the one and only PT individual time trial classic Chrono des Herbiers. The race was first on the MG menu back in 2008, when Sebastian Lang won it for Designa Kokken. After that, every year saw several different riders victorious, with the 2015 edition then being won by Marlen Zmorka. Taylor Phinney went on to win five editions in a row, after which Mads Würtz overtook his throne for three wins between 2021 and 2023. Last year's edition was won by the new king in town, Tom Wirtgen.
Let's have a look at the profile.
And when we have a better look at the favourites, including the full startlist in the spoiler, we can expect a repeat for Wirtgen win here. Würtz is his biggest competitor, with guys like Dunbar, Zmorka, Bernal and Mullen hoping for the final podium spot, or maybe even more.
The 80-statted time trialists, who are Ganna, Mano, Ocampo, will want at least a top-10 and ideally a top-5, with the 79-statted riders aiming for a top-10. 19 participants have a rating of 79 time trial or higher, so definitely some guys will be disappointed with the final outcome as well in that regard.
Shout-out to Bernard Ndungu.
Good luck to all tomorrow!

Had hoped to see a bit more of those 78-79 not participating as managers might have figured racedays were spent better elsewhere, but I clearly understand why you would bring them here for minor points. Riders such as Bernal, Herregodts, Phinney, Evenepoel and Kämna were on my "might miss the race"-list. Unfortunately they weren't missing it
Our expected 70 points here is likely going to be 35-40 instead. Fingers are crossed that one of my guys can overperform and end up closer to 15th than 25th.

Top 10 here from Remco would be perfection.

The top favorite! (for last place)
Here for development purposes only, not even Bjerg could make it due to clashes so we'll sadly be a terrible representative of the PCT this race.

I kind of only have Norsgaard on the roster to get minor placings in races like this, so we'll hope for the best.
Thanks for the preview!

Top 3 Goal race for us. Zmorka has beaten Wurtz and Dunbar earlier in the season when the result hasn't really mattered. Hope he can get something similar here. Top 5 and Top 15 would be the minimum realistic goal for us.
Thanks for the preview Nemo

Not much for us here! Wirtgen for the win, and then a likely double top 6 and top 8 for respectively Polar and King Power!? |

14th is an amazing result from Christapopoulos here! The others were underwhelming, but we came much closer to our pre-race expectations than what was realistic when we saw the startlist. Not bad!

We have the best TTers of the world at the start and probably even a better startlist than in a World Championship.
Correct, you won't see Ndungu's magnificent ride in the WC. Thanks for the report kb and congrats on the expected 1 - 2 SN!

The 79 TT guys were between 10-20 on the favorites list. Norsgaard ends up 16th. Satisfied with that result under the circumstances. Forssell and Krigbaum sneaking into the top 50 means we scored about as well as we could hope here.
Thanks for the report and commiserations to bikex

Satisfactory result here with 4th and 15th. Sucks to miss out on a goal by just one place but cant complain too much overall.
Thanks for the report kb

Nothing race for us. Maybe in a few years it's one for Currie.
Thanks for the preview and report.
