Stage 4 Report

Another hilly rated stage for Stage 4, 167k from Los Angeles to Thousand Oaks. A little tougher today with a Cat 1, two Cat 2s and a Cat 3 plus a series of sharp uncategorized ridges in the last 30k.

Less trouble in getting the break set and 12 riders get away. Trans and Colombini quickly shut down some additional attackers. The 12 in the break are:

Le Court easily wins at the lone sprint point with 136k to ride. Le Court (1’18), Rojas (1’01) and Rondel (1’12) are closest on GC in the break.

Otruba drives the pace from 800 meters from the top but he can’t stop Le Court coming around him to take 1st. Rojas and Huby are 3rd and 4th.

The next climb is the Cat 3 with 53k to go. Again Otruba (38) sets the pace but Le Court (22) takes 1st. Postma takes 3rd. Peloton at 2’35.

With 42k to go the peloton catches De Comarmond, Scully, and Soderqvist who were dropped on the last climb. Kajamini was caught earlier. Perhaps confused by the fact that the KOM point comes after the top of the climb Otruba (42) only manages 4th. Rojas (20) wins the points ahead of Matte and Le Court (28). The front 3 get a gap on the others.
