Grands Prix Cycliste (PTHC) Discussion
We have arrived in Canada for the Grands Prix Cycliste. The hilly race of the year in Canada. Always an exciting race with the last 2 one day editions decided with a sprint between at least 3 riders. Let's take a look at the profile and the favourites!
With 7 laps around Montreal and 2 very steep but short climbs each lap. The last one still around 10-15km from the end. Whoever decides to attack there needs to make sure it sticks.
1 | Tomohiro Kinoshita | Minions | 4h58'17 | 2 | Matej Mohoric | Aker - MOT | s.t. | 3 | Alexey Lutsenko | Gazelle | s.t. | 4 | Attila Valter | EA Vesuvio | + 17 | 5 | Clement Koretzky | ELCO - ABEA | s.t. | 6 | Mauri Vansevenant | Fastned | + 41 | 7 | Lilian Calmejane | Trans Looney Tunes | s.t. | 8 | Anthony Turgis | Lampre - Pinarello | s.t. | 9 | Yevgeniy Gidich | King Power | s.t. | 10 | Petr Vakoc | ISA - Hexacta | s.t. |

I'm not sure we can look past Lopez with this one. Probably one of the best suited for this with excellent hill and acceleration. Mohoric, Gidich and De Bie should be right there with Lopez and should it come to that, De Bie has that slightly better sprint ability. Speaking of sprint ability, Yates seems to be the guy. If it does come down to a group sprint or if he is present, I'm not sure anyone will be able to get ahead of him. The other thing Yates has is depth with the team. 2 other riders on the favourite list could help get him to the end at the front.
We can't forget about Stannard, Buchmann and Areruya though. Especially the latter as he has been good all season long currently in the top 10 of the PT Individual rankings (the highest of the competitors in this race).
This should be a very exciting race. Hard to call a winner that's for sure! Good luck to all!

Desperately need a result here. It's Stannard's type of race, now we just need to know if it's his type of day.
Thanks for the preview, Jakstar!

Hoping for a big group arriving at the finish for Oliveira to shine or some breakaway magic. Both options aren't realistic though...
Thanks for the preview, Jakstar!

A very rare opportunity for Kron to lead the team. Let's hope he makes the most of it.

the cobbled double header went good enough that the gap has grown to almost 500 points and we are basically chanceless now. Would still like a podium finish for the fight for 3rd but the pressure is a bit off now.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

The field is stacked and likely too strong for Marc but hopefully he can pull something off.
Still, should give a good indication of how far off the best he is currently

Hoping for a minor miracle here but time will tell. Should me MAL's to win but super excited to see how this impacts the standings where a lot of other teams has a lot more to ride for than we do!

All hail our lord and saviour. Robbie, you beautie! Couldn't have asked for more. Attentive, aggressive and pragmatic. Hopefully we can use this momentum to push against relegation in the next few races.
Thanks for the report Abi!

Well that was disappointing.
Not a lot of points gained, but Gerts seems set on keeping us in the PT
Congrats, Gustav, important win for your own relegation battle!

Definitely not the ideal result for us in the top 10 rankings fight with Vansevenant snagging a podium here for Fastned. Yates in 7th means it wasn't a perfect cycleyorkshire result, so maybe that's our path forward now.

Hirschi with a strong performance here to claim 6th is what we like to see, he's got 2 more outings left this season to add to his tally

Congrats Gustav on a huge win! Would Stannard perform on this level regularly youwozld long be safe. For us Oliveira in 20th is as good as it could get in this field, though it's still no real help pointswise.

Massive result by Polar by virtue of not starting here at all
12th is a bad result but King Power isnt gaining anything either. So Polar has to be one of the clear winners here
Congrats Gustavovskiy, nothing better than a big victory in a time of need!

Well, there goes our final silent hope to overtake Vesuvio
Fantastic win by Stannard, though, delivering exactly when it was most needed! On the other hand, a missed opportunity for Ackermann to keep Everesting at bay, as this finale should have been perfect for him. I guess the "main menu" was too much for him, there was no room for the dessert.
Really bad performances by some star puncheurs as well, but I guess this doesn't come fully unexpected on a rather easy course like this one.
Great to see UBS and Sauber do well; the latter should definitely be safe, and the former made a big step towards having two Swiss teams in PT next year! Would it be a first? (Haven't been there in MG's early days, so no clue, honestly...)
Thanks for the nice report to Abhi!

There was some plan which dictated this be a win goal, so the question is do you get partial credit for finishing 79th?
Great to see Stannard coming up big for Gus.
Thanks to Abhi for the report.

Congrats Gustav, nice to see Everesting getting a win. Great start to the final stretch in the battle to avoid relegation. For us I am stoked with Buchmann's 4th place here. Almost feels like a sigh of relief with our recent string of questionable results. Thanks for the race Abhi.
