Chilean/Faroese/Taiwanese National Championships
Chilean National Road Race Championship
Faroese National Road Race Championship
Taiwanese National Road Race Championship

Chile, the Faroe Islands and Taiwan (officially known as Chinese Taipei) host their national championships together. The latter two didn't have a proper mountain to climb so flew their riders to Chile.

For the home country, four riders made it to the start, but pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_hug.png Burmann and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_azt.png Ortega are the likely contenders.

The Faroe Islands don't have any notable climbers, so it will be interesting to see which of the Netia boys will climb fastest.

With pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_xmc.png Wang missing his flight, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_wcc.png Feng is the favorite to win the Taiwanese Championship.

Feng blew past the breakaway with seventeen kilometer to go, together with Ortega, Burmann, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ssc.png Hsu, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_tmo.png Veyhe and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_azt.png Bravo. The latter three then struggled to follow the pace, resulting in Burmann, Feng and Ortega to battle for victory.

Burmann sets off alone. Feng doesn't need to chase, he has his championship in the pocket. Ortega doesn't seem to have the strength, so Burmann is gone.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_hug.png Wolfgang Burmann, the Azteca loanee to Hugo Boss, wins the Chilean Championship! Ortega finishes second at 1'08, losing out to his teammate for next year.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_wcc.png Chun Kai Feng took it easy, knowing Hsu was far behind, and finishes third at 4'27 to become champion of Chinese Taipei.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_tmo.png Torkil Veyhe, the Netia loanee to T-Mobile, is making his way to the finish, but the news already came through that both his competitors have abandoned the race. He makes it to the top, 8'31 behind Burmann, and receives the Faroese jersey!

Only Chinese Taipei can be interesting, with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_wcc.png Feng and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ssc.png Hsu close together. For the other two I don't expect surprises.

Hsu started ahead of Feng, but Feng doesn't reach his split times. At the finish line the difference is 31 seconds in Hsu's favor.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_nvo.png Dahl-Olsen is nearly two minutes faster than pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_nvo.png Nielsen and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_tmo.png Veyhe for an easy win.

But not as easy as pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_azt.png Ortega, who doesn't only beat nearest rival pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_hug.png Burmann by 2'34 but also takes the overall win by two minutes over Dahl-Olsen in 1h08'24.

Champion of Chile: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_azt.png Sergio Ortega!

Champion of Chinese Taipei: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ssc.png Hsuan Ping hsu!

Champion of the Faroe Islands: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_nvo.png Gunnar Dahl-Olsen!
